About the position

Parsons is seeking an Experienced Wastewater/Water Industrial Engineer to join our team, focusing on large infrastructure projects that significantly impact our communities. This role requires a versatile and enthusiastic engineer who thrives in flexible, team-oriented environments and possesses exceptional communication, analytical, and organizational skills. The engineer will be responsible for a variety of complex engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analysis to specific wastewater project assignments, particularly in the semiconductor industry. This may involve the use of computer-aided engineering (CAE) and computer-aided design (CAD) applications. Experience in designing and operating systems in semiconductor facilities, pharmaceutical facilities, and chemical plants is highly valued. The position is full-time and based in Syracuse, NY, with expectations for travel to supplier, client, or construction site locations. In this role, you will provide engineering support and oversight for the design, construction, and commissioning of wastewater systems. Key responsibilities include reviewing design drawings and specifications for completeness and accuracy, validating engineering calculations, and approving equipment and component submittals in coordination with operations and maintenance staff. You will also be involved in field engineering quality assurance during construction, commissioning support, and entering system information into capacity planning software. This position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team, which has been dedicated to designing and delivering essential infrastructure for over 75 years, enhancing community quality of life and promoting sustainability and resiliency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support and oversight for the design, construction, and commissioning of wastewater systems.
  • Review design drawings and specifications for completeness and accuracy.
  • Validate engineering calculations and review equipment configuration in 3D models.
  • Approve equipment and component submittals in coordination with O&M staff.
  • Review and validate construction RFI responses and shop drawings.
  • Conduct field engineering QA during construction and provide commissioning support.
  • Enter system information into capacity planning software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required.
  • At least 8 years of experience in the design of water and wastewater treatment or similar industrial facilities.
  • Mid-Level or higher Engineer with large project greenfield design/construction experience.
  • Experience in wastewater reclamation and treatment system design.
  • Knowledge of solvent and other liquid waste collection systems.
  • Experience in gravity and pumped drain piping design.
  • Familiarity with various water and wastewater processes such as headworks, membrane bioreactors, and advanced water treatment processes.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD (or CAD file reader) and/or Revit, BioWIN, Pipe-Flow, Visual Hydraulics software.
  • Professional Engineer registration may be required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in semiconductor facilities is preferred.
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills.
