About the position

The Water/Wastewater Engineering Discipline Lead at AECOM is responsible for providing technical leadership in the design and analysis of water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, and collection systems. This role involves project management, client relationship development, and mentoring junior engineers, while working on a variety of water-related projects. The position is based in Louisville, KY, and offers opportunities for professional growth and collaboration within a dynamic team.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical leadership for a specialty and is considered to be a fully capable professional in their field.
  • Working with senior members of the Water Business Line team to seek new municipal business opportunities.
  • Managing projects, including scoping, task management, invoicing, and final closeout.
  • Planning, scheduling, conducting/coordinating detailed phases of engineering work of a major project, or several small-moderate scope projects.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior staff.
  • Overseeing the planning and design of various project elements, the preparation of project reports, hydraulic models, calculations, drawings, construction plans and specifications, permitting packages, and documents for inclusion in the final project deliverables.
  • Coordination with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public to accomplish assigned objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • 10-15+ years of design experience related to water treatment and/or conveyance (preferred).
  • PE license in the state of Kentucky or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire (preferred).
  • Experience working on municipal projects (preferred).
  • Experience and familiarity with programs such as ArcGIS, SWMM, Storm/Sewer/WaterCAD, ATF Fathom, Excel, Word, PowerPoint (preferred).
  • Proven interpersonal skills, including client interaction, public speaking, and persuasive ability; strong project financial management.
