About the position

The Water/Wastewater Project Engineer at HDR will be responsible for the technical delivery of various municipal water and wastewater projects across Florida. This role involves project engineering, task management, and the preparation of engineering plans and specifications. The position also offers opportunities for professional growth towards becoming a Project Manager.

Responsibilities

• Provide project engineering and task management for municipal water and wastewater projects.
• Lead detailed design preparation of engineering plans and specifications for water or wastewater facilities.
• Perform hydraulic evaluations and modeling for pressure and gravity linear systems.
• Develop planning, preliminary engineering, and technical reports.
• Provide inter-disciplinary coordination leadership on projects.
• Work independently and assist in planning and organizing teams of professionals and technicians.
• Assist in project permitting efforts with regulatory and municipal entities.
• Support Project Managers with resource management, invoicing, and quality management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with municipal or industrial water/wastewater systems.
• Previous experience executing technical studies and designing plans for water-focused projects.
• Strong technical background in water or wastewater treatment and distribution systems.
• Ability to make independent decisions and be accountable for results.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently and in teams.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or related engineering field.
• Ambition to transition into a client-facing Project Manager role.
