About the position

AECOM Water is seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer for our Indianapolis, Indiana office. The qualified applicant will have experience in water/wastewater engineering and construction management principles, and will be familiar with the design, construction, and operation of municipal water and/or wastewater treatment and conveyance infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support for a variety of utility design related projects, including water and wastewater treatment plants, pump/booster stations, water line and collection line design, rehabilitation, master planning, and construction administration.
  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving design calculations, preparation of technical memorandum, preparation of contract documents such as specifications and drawings.
  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
  • Provides guidance to junior-level engineers.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
  • Coordinates with other disciplines, sub-consultants, contractors and regulatory reviews.
  • Provide inspection of construction work to ensure compliance with the contract documents plans, including and specifications on active construction contracts.
  • Make measurements and observations of work being performed to ensure accurate quantities are tracked for completed work.
  • Engage with client on variety of project-related topics as appropriate.
  • Provide business development support and engagement with existing and prospective clients.

Requirements

  • BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Indiana Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • 4 Years of Water/Wastewater Treatment or Conveyance design experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well in teams
  • Flexible - can adapt to shifting priorities / work schedules
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Strong working knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (e.g., AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)
  • Participate as member of professional and technical societies
