About the position

The Water & Wastewater Project Engineer at Herbert, Rowland & Grubic is responsible for designing and overseeing water and wastewater engineering projects. This role involves preparing project designs, ensuring compliance with client requirements, and serving as a construction field engineer during project execution. The engineer will also handle project permitting and represent the firm in various meetings, contributing to the overall mission of enhancing community infrastructure and environmental protection.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing water and wastewater engineering project designs
  • Providing project review, QA/QC, and compliance to client specific requirements
  • Preparing plans, specifications, and contract documents for project bidding
  • Serving as construction field engineer during project construction, including dealings with contractors and interpreting designs
  • Preparation of work change directives and/or change orders
  • Completing project permitting requirements
  • Representing client, project, and/or HRG at various meetings

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with Environmental emphasis
  • Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Professional Engineering license
  • 4+ years' experience in the design of water distribution and treatment systems
  • Experience in wastewater collection, conveyance, and treatment systems and processes
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and on-lot systems
  • Experience in environmental assessments
  • Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Previous experience with computer modeling of water systems and hydraulic design software
  • Familiarity with PA DEP regulations
  • Valid Driver's License to travel to job sites, meetings, and other offices
  • Legal right to work in the U.S.
