About the position

Dewberry is seeking a Water/Wastewater Senior Project Engineer to lead project execution and business strategy in the water/wastewater sector, focusing on pipeline and conveyance engineering across the western United States. The role involves managing civil engineering projects for public sector utility clients, developing client relationships, and supporting the growth of the water department's project management and engineering staff.

Responsibilities

  • Applies thorough knowledge and expertise of current principles and practices of engineering to resolve project challenges.
  • Keeps informed of new methods and developments affecting the water business and recommends changes to internal programs.
  • Supervises a growing staff of engineers and technicians.
  • Plans, schedules, coordinates, and performs the preparation of engineering assessments, preliminary designs, and design documents for multiple projects.
  • Develops statements of qualifications, detailed proposals, project execution plans, and contracts, including project understanding, scope of work, pricing, and schedule.
  • Implements quality management programs on project assignments and verifies adherence to quality processes.
  • Oversees project management and delivery to ensure compliance with project scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Reviews operational procedures to ensure compliance with company policies and performance measures.
  • Increases Dewberry's visibility in the public sector water business through active participation in professional and community organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in water/wastewater engineering, specifically in pipeline and conveyance projects.
  • Strong project management skills and experience leading teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to develop client relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with public sector utility clients.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the water/wastewater industry.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies in water management.
