About the position
The Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the water and wastewater treatment plant. This role involves supervising personnel, conducting quality control, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. The operator must effectively manage repairs, maintain equipment, and monitor treatment processes while adhering to regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Supervises personnel assigned to the maintenance of the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant.
- Performs the duties of crew members as required.
- Prioritizes repairs and maintenance projects to be completed.
- Inspects and maintains treatment plant equipment.
- Conducts quality control samples on water and wastewater.
- Completes and maintains required reports.
- Maintains work areas in an orderly fashion by cleaning, sweeping, etc.
- Monitors the treatment operation, including adjusting flows, chemical input, monitoring gauges, etc.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Possess a minimum Class C Wastewater License.
- Possess a minimum Class B Water License.
- Class I Wastewater Treatment Operator certification.
- Minimum two years experience in water or wastewater utilities.
- Valid Texas Driver's License.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in wastewater treatment operations.
- Ability to operate commercial telephones and a two-way radio.
- Ability to read and interpret maps, sketches, drawings, specifications, and technical manuals.
