About the position

Guerra Underground, LLC, a well-established underground utility company specializing in municipal water and wastewater rehabilitation and replacement, is seeking a Project Coordinator for the Laredo area. This full-time position is crucial for assisting the Project Manager in coordinating and managing field construction projects related to water and wastewater utilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in the utility industry and will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed in accordance with project guidelines and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. As a Project Coordinator, you will maintain project documentation and monitor project plans, schedules, work hours, budgets, and expenditures. You will prepare and submit Requests for Information (RFIs) and submittals, providing leadership to crews and team members by effectively communicating and delegating responsibilities. Tracking project activities and tasks to generate and present status reports to the Project Manager will be a key part of your role. Additionally, you will assess project risks and issues, providing solutions where applicable, and offer administrative support as needed. Your responsibilities will also include comparing quotes from vendors, entering and updating 811 tickets, filing contract documents, and overseeing daily production quantities, labor, and equipment. This position requires a proactive approach to project management and a strong understanding of the water and wastewater utility construction industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager in coordinating and managing field construction projects.
  • Maintain project documentation and monitor project plans, schedules, work hours, budgets, and expenditures.
  • Prepare and submit RFIs and submittals.
  • Provide leadership to crews/team members by effectively communicating and delegating responsibilities.
  • Track project activities and tasks to generate and present status reports to the Project Manager.
  • Assess project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable.
  • Provide administrative support as needed.
  • Compare quotes from vendors.
  • Enter and update 811 tickets.
  • File contract documents.
  • Oversee daily production quantities, labor, and equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field of study.
  • Three to five years of experience in water/wastewater utility construction.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Competent in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with scheduling using Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans.
