About the position
The Waterjet Operator I position at Mohawk Industries involves setting up, operating, and overseeing automated processes to print mat products. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective startup, continuous operation, and shutdown of automatic machines, while maintaining quality control and cleanliness in the production area. The operator will also be responsible for troubleshooting machine malfunctions and reporting production stops for efficiency improvements.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and oversee automated processes to print mat products.
- Perform all activities related to the effective startup, continuous operation, and shut down of automatic machines using operational software.
- Conduct frequent visual and manual inspections to ensure proper operational functioning.
- Troubleshoot various machine malfunctions to expedite problem resolution and maintain production levels.
- Observe continuous operation of automatic machines to ensure that products meet specifications and to prevent or detect jams or malfunctions, adjusting as necessary.
- Measure and visually inspect products for surface and dimension defects to ensure conformance to specifications and standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of machinery to ensure efficient and effective operations.
- Record stops in production and explanations for stops to be reported back to supervisor and technical experts for efficiency improvement opportunities.
Requirements
- Ability to comprehend written and verbal communication in English.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing effective manufacture of goods.
- Experience in controlling operations of equipment or systems.
- Ability to monitor operations by watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure machines are working properly.
- Experience in conducting tests and inspections of products or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
