This role involves working closely with both pre-sale and post-sale design teams to establish strategies and directions for network architecture, specifically focusing on backhaul solutions for ASTRO 25 and WAVE VOIP technologies. The engineer will lead the technical design efforts, ensuring that the networks are secure, manageable, and meet the high standards required for public safety communications. The responsibilities include creating detailed network drawings, evaluating third-party vendor equipment, and collaborating with vendors and contractors to fulfill design requirements. The engineer will also be responsible for assessing network topologies and troubleshooting existing networks to ensure optimal performance. This position requires a strong understanding of effective network design methodologies and hands-on experience with troubleshooting live networks. The ideal candidate will possess certifications such as Juniper Network Certified Internet Associate (JNCIA) or Nokia Routing Specialist I (NRS I), along with experience in routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, and MPLS design and deployments. In addition to technical skills, the role demands excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as the engineer will work collaboratively with colleagues, customers, and third-party service professionals. The position is based in Washington D.C. and requires the ability to obtain necessary security clearances due to the sensitive nature of the work. The engineer will provide on-premises support, ensuring that the network solutions are effectively implemented and maintained in high-security environments governed by strict policies.
