About the position

The Components Manufacturing Operator at SC Johnson is responsible for autonomously setting up, running, changing over, and troubleshooting plastic injection molding equipment. This role emphasizes production quality, safety, and teamwork, aiming to reduce downtime while improving efficiency and quality. The operator serves as a subject matter expert, training others and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Run and set up industrial equipment, including assembling or sorting equipment and general automated manufacturing equipment.
• Perform safety checks and use safety devices such as interlocks and LOTO devices.
• Conduct in-process quality audits and ensure adherence to inspection plans.
• Identify and address defective products and recover from bad audits.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, including cleaning and lubricating.
• Operate and interact with quality gauges and equipment, such as Keyence and color spectrometers.
• Train new production team members on quality inspections and equipment usage.
• Maintain a clean and safe workplace according to SCJ policies.
• Support plant audits and participate in process improvement projects.

Requirements

• 3 years of manufacturing or production experience.
• 1 year of plastic injection molding experience.
• Lean Manufacturing experience.
• Certified in Level 1 Components Manufacturing Operator (Basic Skills).
• Demonstrated math and measurement skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Certified in Level 2 Components Manufacturing Operator (Basic Skills).
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Manufacturing experience at S.C. Johnson Waxdale facility.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite products and SAP.
• Experience with advanced plastic injection molding equipment and robotics.
