About the position

The Host/Door position at Whiskey Cake involves creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests and ensuring a smooth dining experience. Team members are expected to connect with guests on a personal level, manage reservations, and maintain cleanliness in the restaurant. This role is essential in delivering exceptional hospitality and supporting the overall guest experience.

Responsibilities

• Interact with all guests and co-workers in a professional, hospitable, and friendly manner.
• Arrive on time for scheduled shifts, ready to work, and wear the proper uniform at all times.
• Properly accept and book reservations, offering alternative time slots when necessary.
• Calculate, note, and quote accurate wait times, offering the bar for cocktails and appetizers during extensive waits.
• Keep floors, entry, and aisleways clean and free of debris.
• Assist in bussing tables when on a wait or in need of immediate table turnover.
• Provide guests with the right of way and assist them with directions around the restaurant.
• Genuinely thank all departing guests for dining and welcome new guests.
• Be familiar with all restaurant information to answer guest questions or address concerns.
• Answer all phone calls, fulfill guest needs, and communicate important information to managers.

Requirements

• Fun, energetic, and genuinely care for the guest experience.
• Prior restaurant experience is desired but not required.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• OpenTable experience is a plus.
