About the position

The Wealth Deposits & Lending Data Owner Sr. Group Manager is a senior-level professional role accountable for managing data related to a product, function, process, or country. This position ensures compliance with regulations, laws, and Citi policies, standards, and procedures to mitigate and manage Citi's data risk. The Data Owner Sr. Group Manager is responsible for developing the data strategy, architecture target state, and implementation roadmap for authoritative data sources. This role requires influencing senior leaders in the business to view data as a product and a strategic asset. Collaboration is key in this role, as the Data Owner will work closely with Chief Data Office teams, technology, and business stakeholders to provide data consumers across the organization with certified data that meets their requirements. The Data Owner will serve as a thought leader in their domain, working with internal data governance stakeholders, including senior data managers, data risk and control teams, data quality/analytics and reporting teams, and business/function stakeholders. The goal is to implement adequate data governance, promote the concept of data as an asset, and drive cultural change to make the organization increasingly data-informed. The responsibilities include managing a team of senior professional data owners to deliver data solutions, contributing to decisions that impact company revenues and operations, and leading efforts to identify end-to-end data flow. The Data Owner will engage with senior stakeholders to ensure the development and execution of tools that enable efficient operating models. They will also create effective presentations for various audiences, develop long-term plans, and align key data capabilities with data and system process flows. Additionally, the role involves prioritizing data concerns, reporting data quality issues, developing metrics and key performance indicators, and ensuring sound program/project management for the entire data portfolio. The Data Owner is also responsible for assessing risks associated with business decisions and ensuring compliance with applicable rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of senior professional data owners to deliver data solutions.
  • Contribute to decisions on issues/activities that have critical impact or influence on company revenues, capital, or business operations.
  • Challenge teams' plans to identify roadblocks and dependencies.
  • Lead efforts to identify end-to-end data flow, including all upstream areas that create and/or consume Authoritative Data Sources.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders across lines of business and functions to ensure development and execution of suitable tools for efficient operating models.
  • Create effective presentations suitable for all audience types, including the Citigroup Board and Executive Management Team.
  • Develop medium to long-term plans and execute functional strategies for a large/complex country or business.
  • Partner with relevant stakeholders to align key data capabilities including metadata repositories, data dictionaries, data lineage, and training materials.
  • Prioritize Data Concerns, including dispositioning and monitoring fixes for data defects and issues.
  • Report Data Quality issues through Citi's corresponding Data/Issue management process.
  • Develop appropriate metrics and key performance indicators associated with data quality and controls.
  • Ensure sound program/project management for the entire Data portfolio, including clear deliverables and timelines.
  • Manage and monitor metrics and Key Performance Indicators associated with Data Quality and Controls.
  • Responsible for remediation of Data Concerns, including monitoring fixes for data defects and issues.
  • Assess risk when business decisions are made, ensuring compliance with applicable rules, laws, and regulations.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience, including 8-10+ years' managerial experience.
  • Experience in defining and implementing data management, data capabilities, analytics, and information management supporting operational processes.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate future possibilities into breakthrough strategies.
  • Understanding of all aspects of Data Management, including Data Lineage, Metadata, Data Quality, Data Remediation, and Issue Management.
  • Effective communication skills, able to develop and deliver multi-mode communications that meet the needs of different audiences.
  • Experience leading change in a large organization, leveraging change management processes and principles.
  • Ability to manage through ambiguity and solve complex problems.
  • Promotes a culture of collaboration and teamwork across organizations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Private Banking / Wealth Management services and core expertise in Wholesale Deposits and/or Wholesale Lending/Commercial Loans products.
  • Familiarity with leveraging agile practices to quickly deliver high-quality results.
  • Experience as a product owner for an agile team.
