About The Position

As an Associate DevOps Engineer in Wealth Management at Goldman Sachs, you will be responsible for building highly available solutions that can scale globally across a multitude of digital, consumer-facing financial products. You will develop, support, administer, and consult in a business-critical infrastructure environment. This role involves a blend of engineering and operational responsibilities, with a focus on risk management. You will work closely with Application Development engineers, Technology and Critical Infrastructure teams, and vendor teams to ensure scalable and highly automated solutions from infrastructure provisioning to code deployment and support.

Requirements

  • Degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience with DevOps.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Gitlab including CI/CD pipeline development and management.
  • Experience with Infrastructure As Code using tools such as Terraform.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience in programming languages: Python, Perl, Shell Scripting (knowledge of Java, C++, NodeJS or TypeScript is a plus).
  • Understanding of micro-services and related architectures.
  • Experience with storage and networking stacks.
  • Exposure to observability tools such as Prometheus, ELK & Splunk.
  • Experience with all stages in the lifecycle of large distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with security best practices in DevOps.
  • Experience with managing performance, availability, and scale for mid to large sized systems.
  • Experience with software development on Linux (Windows is a plus).
  • Cloud infrastructure expertise, preferably AWS.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a desire to learn.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Build on-premise and cloud infrastructures including Linux VMs/containers and associated configuration and software.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliable and controlled delivery of both in-house software and vendor software.
  • Interact closely with Application Development engineers, Technology and Critical Infrastructure teams, and vendor teams.
  • Industrialize essential systems via automation and provide training and internal consultancy on SDLC and technical risk topics.
  • Answer support calls as needed, release code to production, and contribute to the firm's infrastructure automation capabilities.
