About the position

The Weapons Integration Engineer will serve as a Systems Engineer for the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter Weapons Integration Product Team (IPT) at Eglin AFB, Florida. This role is critical in the area of stores integration and associated hardware and software development. The engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring F-35 weapon integration tasks, acting as the focal point for all integration activities related to assigned weapons. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of the F-35 System Requirement Document(s) to ensure that the Joint Services receive effective and suitable mission capabilities. In this role, the engineer will maintain oversight of all assigned aircraft and weapon integration activities, ensuring compliance with established requirements. The engineer will coordinate with Weapon Program Offices to ensure that aircraft integration activities meet certification requirements and align with weapon program roadmaps. Participation in Joint Interface Control Working Group (JICWG) meetings, Program Management Reviews (PMR), Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM), and IPT status meetings is essential, as the engineer will serve as the government interface manager for assigned weapons. The engineer will also coordinate with the Stores Certification IPT on various activities, including wind tunnel tests, ground fit checks, environmental testing, and store separation testing. Collaboration with NAVAIR and Air Force Seek Eagle organizations is necessary to ensure that all analyses are completed to support weapon certification and flight clearances. Additionally, the engineer will participate in aircraft software development activities to ensure proper weapon functionality and will coordinate and participate in lab, ground, and flight tests, monitoring and reviewing test plans, procedures, and results. The role also involves supporting weapon systems analysis for Weapon Delivery Accuracy, Lethality, and Mission Effectiveness, reviewing and supporting weapons integration planning and estimating for future efforts, and submitting weekly status reports on integration to Weapons IPT leadership. Monthly inputs for F-35 Air Vehicle / Mission Systems (AV/MS) briefings to leadership will also be required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly inputs for F-35 Air Vehicle / Mission Systems (AV/MS) briefings to Leadership.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain program security clearances.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or STEM related field plus 10 years relevant experience in a Weapon or Aircraft Program Management Office (PMO).
  • Demonstrated experience of 5+ years integrating airborne weapons systems, including systems engineering, test, and/or program management expertise.
  • Working knowledge of DoD acquisition lifecycle process & relevancy to assigned weapon(s) system.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fighter aircraft weapons practices and policies.
  • Military tactical weapons background is preferable.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze a variety of weapons program information, make sound judgments concerning weapons, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to senior military and government leadership.
  • Good briefing, interpersonal and diplomatic skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and TEAMS.
