About the position

As a Flexjet Weather Specialist, you will be responsible for providing accurate and reliable weather forecasts and analyses for Flexjet. Your primary goal will be to ensure the safe and efficient operation of flights by delivering timely and tailored weather information to several departments, including Owner Services, Operations, and Flight. This role requires a deep understanding of meteorological principles and the ability to apply them in a practical aviation context. You will conduct in-depth analysis of meteorological data from a variety of sources, including satellite and radar imagery, numerical weather models, and surface observations to produce aviation-specific forecasts and briefings. In this position, you will deliver comprehensive weather updates and guidance to flight crews and dispatchers before and during flights, providing critical information on turbulence, icing, thunderstorms, and other weather-related hazards. Monitoring current weather conditions and providing timely updates to operations staff will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will also evaluate weather risks and provide recommendations regarding flight planning and scheduling to Operations, ensuring that all flights are conducted safely and efficiently. Collaboration is essential in this role, as you will work closely with members in Flight Planning to provide real-time weather information that facilitates safe and efficient routing of flights. Additionally, you will need to communicate complex meteorological information effectively to non-technical stakeholders, such as managers, in a clear and concise manner. Maintaining a close working relationship with the NBAA and other external vendors/stakeholders is also crucial. Staying up to date with advances in meteorological technology and industry best practices will be necessary to excel in this position.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in aviation meteorology and its applications to flight operations.
  • Proficiency in the use of meteorological software and tools, such as weather models, radar, and satellite imagery.
  • Exceptional communication skills to convey complex technical information clearly to a range of audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of aviation regulations and safety procedures.
  • Flexibility and availability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a related field.
  • Professional certification, such as the Certified Consulting Meteorologist (CCM) or Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM).
  • Experience working in an aviation-related field.
  • Familiarity with international aviation regulations and practices.
