About the position

The Weatherization Assessor/Worker III position at MAAC (Metropolitan Area Advisory Committee) is a full-time role focused on providing energy-efficient measures to low-income households. This position plays a crucial role in the Healthy Homes program, which aims to improve energy efficiency, reduce energy costs, and ensure the health and safety of residents. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting outreach activities to identify and qualify program participants, making presentations to educate the community about the program, and designing informational materials. Under supervision, the worker will perform home assessments, energy audits, property evaluations, and quality control post-inspections, ensuring compliance with grant and funding requirements. The role requires a variable schedule, including potential evening and weekend hours, and mandates meeting monthly assessment goals. Incumbents are expected to complete a minimum of forty assessments per month, with an incentive plan for additional compensation after exceeding fifty assessments. Essential duties include conducting outreach, performing home and program audits, providing customer service, executing home assessment evaluations, and ensuring accurate data entry using specialized software. The position also involves performing minor weatherization duties and operating utility vehicles to transport materials and tools to work sites. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, with four years of related work experience, including public outreach and construction-related experience. Bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish are highly desirable, as is experience with weatherization and energy programs. The role demands strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations, and the capacity to work effectively with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform outreach activities to identify and qualify program participants.
  • Make presentations on the program to prospective participants.
  • Design and produce program brochures and informational materials.
  • Conduct home assessments and energy audits.
  • Evaluate properties for eligibility and compliance with grant requirements.
  • Meet monthly contractual assessment goals, completing a minimum of forty assessments per month.
  • Provide customer service to clients, including applicant intake and scheduling appointments.
  • Execute home assessment evaluations to determine materials and labor needed for weatherization.
  • Perform historical preservation reviews for residential properties.
  • Conduct pre-combustion appliance safety tests and diagnostic testing procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain project file folders and computer databases for compliance.
  • Perform minor weatherization duties such as carpentry and insulation as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Four years of related work experience, including two years of public outreach experience and one year of construction-related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience using specialized software such as REM/Design and Microsoft Office.
  • Effective presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations related to housing and weatherization.
