About the position

The Weatherization Auditor is responsible for conducting energy audits on homes of Weatherization applicants, performing inspections, and ensuring compliance with the Weatherization Assistance Program standards. This role involves evaluating energy usage, providing client education, and submitting work orders for necessary measures to improve energy efficiency in homes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an energy usage evaluation of the Weatherization client's home to determine areas of air infiltration and heat loss.
  • Set up a blower door and record diagnostic readings to assess the home's condition prior to Weatherization.
  • Perform a computer guided 'HEAT App.' on the client's home to estimate potential energy savings and upload data into the Hancock Data System.
  • Contact clients to schedule energy audits and explain the process and services provided.
  • Submit completed Weatherization Work Orders to the Program Administrator with material and labor estimates for designated measures.
  • Perform final inspections on completed Weatherization work to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Provide client education on steps to reduce energy consumption in their homes.
  • Complete inspections and return documentation within one week of receipt.
  • Construct work orders formatted for the Weatherization Program for each unit to be weatherized.
  • Conduct post inspections for quality control of completed weatherized units.
  • Assist contractors working on the program and respond to their needs.
  • Document all necessary contacts made to fulfill program requirements.
  • Complete required certifications mandated by DCED, including online classes and in-person training.
  • Complete certification for HEP Auditor and Quality Control Specialist (QCI).
  • Maintain daily mileage backups and timecard records.

Requirements

  • Certification by a technical school or equivalent work experience in residential home construction (desired, but not necessary for hire).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of air infiltration principles and blower door usage as a diagnostic tool (desired, but not necessary for hire).
  • Knowledge of building structures and understanding of home systems (desired, but not necessary for hire).
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of people and motivate them.
  • Team player mentality.
  • Must have own transportation, with mileage reimbursement provided unless an Agency WX vehicle is assigned.
  • BPI certification (not required for hire but needed soon after).
  • OSHA 10-Construction Certificate.
  • Computer knowledge, specifically in Word and Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • HVAC knowledge and testing of all types of HVAC equipment (helpful, but not required).
  • List of training certifications to be completed for an auditor and quality control inspector.
