About the position

The International Peace Institute (IPI) is seeking a Web and Multimedia Intern to assist in the creation and dissemination of web and social media content. This internship is a full-time position based in New York City, directly across from the United Nations headquarters. The intern will play a crucial role in supporting IPI's mission to promote international peace and security by engaging with various digital platforms. The intern will report to the Director of Web & Multimedia and the Web Editor, contributing to the development of content that aligns with IPI's objectives of conflict prevention and resolution. The role involves writing summaries and other text for the IPI website, crafting engaging copy for IPI's social media accounts, and coordinating multimedia elements such as videos and photos. Additionally, the intern will conduct research to enhance social media outreach and assist with other tasks as directed by supervisors. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in digital communication within a prominent international think tank.

Responsibilities

  • Write summaries and other text for the IPI website
  • Write copy for the IPI & Global Observatory Facebook & Twitter accounts, and help maintain accounts
  • Coordinate videos and photos
  • Research related to social media outreach
  • Conduct research as directed by the Director and other editors
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

  • BA or MA with a degree/concentration in international affairs
  • Demonstrated knowledge of multilateral institutions
  • Demonstrated ability to write about international relations
  • Ability to write for the web and social media
  • Technologically savvy, with strong knowledge of web usability and social media
  • Superb organizational skills and attention to details
  • Ability to work on a team in a dynamic environment
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the US

Benefits

  • Stipend of $11 per hour
  • Full-time internship (Monday to Friday - 9 am to 5 pm)
