About the position

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is hiring a Web Application Developer - Software Engineer 3 for the State Office located in Boise. This position may be eligible for a moving/relocation reimbursement and a sign on/bonus. It may also allow for hybrid telecommuting in accordance with the Statewide Telecommuting Policy, subject to successful completion of probation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, and support web-based applications.
  • Use and transfer data via applications to databases.
  • Design data transfer techniques.
  • Provide client business analysis.
  • Design web-based solutions and construct workflow analysis.
  • Deliver solutions that require technical expertise in developing complex web applications.
  • Work and coordinate with other developers, database analysts, and program staff on web application development.
  • Manage multiple projects with competing priorities and meet established deadlines.
  • Advise Software Development Manager on web-development related issues.

Requirements

  • Considerable knowledge of data architecture, software architecture, common software design patterns, development and testing practices.
  • Experience creating, interpreting and documenting user requirements.
  • Experience analyzing development solutions to show costs and benefits.
  • Experience coding, testing, and deploying production systems.
  • Experience establishing and defining architecture and development standards.
  • Typically gained by at least a bachelor's degree in information technology discipline or equivalent from an accredited college AND at least two years of work experience using data architecture, software architecture, common software design patterns, development, and testing practices OR a master's degree in an information technology discipline or equivalent from an accredited college OR at least five years of work experience using data architecture, software architecture, common software design patterns, development, and testing practices.
  • Considerable knowledge of programming languages and software development tool suites, typically gained by at least one course of classroom instruction at an accredited college or vocational-tech level directly related to at least one programming language and software development tool suites AND at least 18 months of work experience using programming languages and software development tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Mastery of .NET Core, .NET Framework, JavaScript, and use of APIs (providing and consuming).
