About the position

The Web Application Developer at East Carolina University is responsible for the full-stack development, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise-wide internet applications within the university's web portal. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure that applications meet business requirements and are designed with high-quality standards. The developer will also engage in project management, system analysis, and provide training to users, while ensuring that all code is thoroughly tested and documented.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise-wide internet applications housed in the University's web portal.
  • Implement new versions of existing software or design new software with high technical and visual standards.
  • Manage assigned projects and individual tasks, tracking progress and communicating effectively.
  • Understand current systems and processes, integrating new developments with enterprise systems as necessary.
  • Respond to issues and support tickets, determining root causes and implementing resolutions.
  • Work with functional areas to understand business requirements and advocate for appropriate technology solutions.
  • Ensure code is free of production issues through rigorous testing methodologies.
  • Write clear and concise technical documentation for projects and systems.
  • Provide training for clients using team applications and stay updated on relevant technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Full-stack web development experience including ColdFusion, Angular, Oracle, git, GitHub, and Node.
  • Experience in automation of business processes and development of modern web applications.
  • Knowledge of responsive design, API development, and software development life cycle.
  • Familiarity with testing methodologies, web application security, and web accessibility.
