About the position

The Website Content Developer will work remotely under the direction of a Harvard client, focusing on creating and managing web content that engages users and provides valuable information. This role requires strong writing and editing skills, as well as the ability to analyze user feedback and website statistics to enhance content effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Write and edit content that promotes new programs, services, or offerings.
  • Develop clear explanations of policies, processes, and procedures to reduce customer service burdens on Harvard departments or programs.
  • Create engaging help text, self-service prompts, FAQs, blog posts, catalog entries, profiles, stories, and announcements.
  • Migrate large volumes of content to new information architectures, websites, or web publishing platforms.
  • Restructure or rewrite existing content for greater clarity and effectiveness, adhering to provided style guides as necessary.
  • Keyword and tag content using provided taxonomies to enhance searchability.
  • Gather user feedback to identify areas for content improvement and enhancement.
  • Analyze website usage statistics and search logs to inform and adjust content strategies.
  • Employ understanding and proven skills in writing effective, searchable, and scannable content tailored for web users.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in web content writing and development.
  • Strong understanding of SEO principles and content management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data to inform content strategy.
  • Familiarity with content migration processes and information architecture.
  • Experience with user feedback mechanisms and content improvement initiatives.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in an academic or higher education environment.
