About the position

LSU Online is seeking an experienced Web Design Manager to lead the web design and development efforts across multiple subdomains. This role focuses on enhancing the digital presence of LSU Online, ensuring high performance and visual integrity of the websites while mentoring junior team members. The Web Design Manager will collaborate with various departments to implement new features and optimize user experience, playing a crucial role in achieving enrollment goals and maintaining brand consistency.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the web design strategy for all of LSU OCE's subdomains, ensuring consistency and innovation across all web platforms.
• Optimize conversion rate performance through proactive troubleshooting and continuous improvement of over 500 web pages.
• Collaborate with IT, Recruitment & Retention, Continuing Education, and Marketing teams to enhance user experience and optimize existing web pages.
• Implement front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and back-end integrations (APIs, databases, CMS management) to improve site functionality.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to a junior landing page designer, fostering their technical and creative skills.
• Conduct regular website performance audits, ensuring content consistency, SEO, and compliance with web accessibility standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of web development experience.
• Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and web development frameworks (e.g., React, Angular).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience managing and developing multiple subdomains within a larger digital ecosystem.
• Strong mentorship skills with a proven ability to guide and support junior team members.
• Solid understanding of SEO best practices, web performance optimization, and web analytics tools.
• Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), such as WordPress, Drupal, or similar platforms.
