About the position

The Web Designer/Programmer position at San Diego Community College District involves designing and programming web-based architectures, ensuring compliance with web standards and regulations, and managing the entire web development lifecycle. Responsibilities

  • Design and build web-based architectures using a content management system (CMS), HTML, ColdFusion, Java, Ajax, CSS, and/or ASP.
  • Troubleshoot complex web application issues, including debugging logic and syntax errors.
  • Diagnose server problems in collaboration with network and data center staff.
  • Manage the entire web development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, technical specification writing, design, quality assurance, and deployment management.
  • Assess web effectiveness through site traffic analysis and performance optimization.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Mentor staff on web technologies and programming techniques.

Requirements

  • At least three (3) years of hands-on experience in web design and programming.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in web design, web programming, or a related field desirable.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with commercial Internet/web tools and programming languages.
  • Experience with Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) server configurations.
  • In-depth understanding of current web design standards, regulations, and laws.
  • Ability to assess web effectiveness and ensure accessibility and usability.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with virtualized directories and vanity URLs.
  • Familiarity with site traffic analysis tools.
