About the position

Stanford Cardiothoracic Surgery is seeking a Web Designer 3 to create and implement design strategies for complex web properties. This role involves producing design requirements, storyboards, interactive mock-ups, and wireframe prototypes, while ensuring an excellent user experience across all web devices. The designer will collaborate with various stakeholders to understand business needs and conduct usability tests to refine web applications.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement a vision and strategy for user experience and overall design for new web products.
  • Design high-quality graphical user interfaces that are attractive and functional on all web devices.
  • Collaborate with web developers to apply designs to web content management systems as themes and templates.
  • Articulate the pros and cons of designs and support recommendations with detailed evidence.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on modern design concepts and usability best practices.
  • Work with clients to gather design requirements and perform user research activities.
  • Design, conduct, and respond to usability tests for websites and applications, acting on findings from reviews and quality assurance activities.
  • Collaborate with IT Services and other departments to ensure compliance with policies around identity graphics and online accessibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to educate others on best web practices and guide them in creating design solutions.
  • Proficiency in HTML and CSS.
  • Advanced knowledge of user profiling, usability testing, and quality assurance practices.
  • Knowledge of web analytics tools and related analyses.
