The Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) is seeking a full-time Web Designer 2 for a fixed term of two years, with the possibility of extension based on funding and programmatic needs. This role is crucial in overseeing the HAI website and creating engaging digital experiences that align with the institute's strong visual brand identity, which emphasizes innovation, human-centered design, diversity, and inclusivity. The Web Designer will work closely with the Managing Editor and will be responsible for designing, building, and implementing various design deliverables while maintaining and evolving the HAI website and associated web properties. The position allows for a hybrid work arrangement, subject to operational needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders. They will be tasked with translating complex information into clear design deliverables that support the institute's objectives. The Web Designer will also serve as the main point of contact for website update requests, manage new website creations, develop custom graphics packages for events, and track website analytics to make informed recommendations. This role requires a deep understanding of user experience (UX) design best practices and the ability to measure and report on website engagement effectively. In addition to technical skills, the Web Designer will be expected to conduct usability testing, create design prototypes, and ensure compliance with policies regarding identity graphics, web content, and online accessibility. The position is integral to advancing HAI's mission of improving the human condition through AI research and education, making it a vital role within the organization.
