Responsibilities

  • Write and maintain standard front-end and back-end code for websites and web applications.
  • Build and maintain websites, functionality, and workflows using various web development tools.
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure a smooth and efficient development process.
  • Apply web code standards and frameworks to produce complex, dynamic websites and applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Some web development experience.
  • Experience with WordPress or Omeka platforms, including theme and plugin development.
  • Experience working with relational databases (e.g., MySQL) and SQL queries.
  • Experience using JavaScript, Angular, React, NodeJS, jQuery, HTML, CSS, JSON, PHP, and WordPress/Omeka.
  • Experience managing projects and repositories in a version control system (e.g., GitHub).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of web accessibility (WCAG 2) and SEO best practices.
  • Knowledge of web performance optimization techniques.
  • Familiarity with CSS preprocessors such as SASS or LESS.
  • Advanced understanding of JavaScript frameworks such as React or Vue.js.
  • Experience with website migrations to WordPress and/or Omeka CMS platforms.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with the Linux command line and system administration.
  • Experience developing and deploying an automated continuous integration/continuous delivery pipeline.
