About the position

The Web Developer (WordPress) position at BranCore Technologies is a contract role focused on enhancing and securing WordPress applications for a public safety mission. The developer will work closely with stakeholders to build new features and services, ensuring positive user experiences across desktop and mobile platforms. This role requires a strong onsite presence in Richmond, VA, with a commitment to working four days a week, and potentially five, depending on project demands.

Responsibilities

• Work across the full stack in WordPress to build new features and services.
• Develop solutions in WordPress that support positive, accessible user experiences in both desktop and mobile environments.
• Perform debugging and security remediations for public-facing applications.
• Utilize agile development methodologies, adhering to best practices, and pursue continued learning opportunities.

Requirements

• Demonstrated expertise in WordPress application development (5 years required).
• Proficiency in PHP coding and debugging (5 years required).
• Proficiency in front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (5 years required).
• Understanding of SQL (5 years required).
• Understanding of REST API (5 years required).
• Ability to work as a team member on web development projects end-to-end (5 years required).
• Proven knowledge of back-end/infrastructure maintenance and optimization and UX/UI principles (5 years required).
• Proven knowledge of secure coding practices (5 years required).
• Outstanding communication skills (5 years required).
• Bachelor's degree in information sciences, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
