About the position

The Web Developer (WordPress) position is a key role within the IT Division, focusing on enhancing and securing six WordPress applications. The developer will work closely with stakeholders to support client missions related to highway safety, emergency messaging, and recruitment. This role requires a hybrid work arrangement with a significant onsite presence, emphasizing full stack development and adherence to agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Working across the full stack in WordPress to build new features and services
• Developing solutions in WordPress that support positive, accessible user experiences in both desktop and mobile environments
• Debugging and security remediations for public facing applications
• Working with agile development methodologies, adhering to best practices, and pursuing continued learning opportunities

Requirements

• Demonstrated expertise in WordPress application development
• Proficiency in PHP coding and debugging
• Proficiency in front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Understanding of SQL
• Understanding of REST API
• Proven knowledge of back-end/infrastructure maintenance and optimization and UX/UI principles
• Proven knowledge of secure coding practices
• Ability to work as team member on web development projects end-to-end
• Outstanding communication skills
• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in information sciences, computer science, or a related field; considerable software implementation experience
