About the position

Responsibilities

• Focus on politics and national news with health, financial, and world news coverage.
• Generate story ideas and approve story ideas from staff and freelancers.
• Write accurate, strong, and engaging headlines and copy.
• Conduct reporting as required.
• Interface with the social media team.
• Write and report quickly on breaking news.
• Assign stories to key staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• 3+ years experience as an editor for online or other publications.
• Proficient in document editing software, like Microsoft Word.
• Highly organized to track workflow at a fast pace.
• Experience using online CMS or ability to learn.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of traffic analytics.
• Ability to multi-task and work on deadlines.
