About the position

The Web UX Designer (User Experience Designer 3) at the University of California, Davis is responsible for providing advanced user experience design and modern website development. This role involves consulting with various stakeholders to support the business, marketing, and infrastructure needs of UCD Information & Educational Technology (IET) and campus clients. The designer will utilize independent judgment and a high degree of customer service to gather user input, create designs and prototypes, and deliver effective solutions for public and client-facing websites.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced user experience design and modern website development.
• Consult with stakeholders to gather user input and feedback.
• Create designs and prototypes for web applications.
• Support the business, marketing, and infrastructure needs of UCD IET and campus clients.
• Ensure public and client-facing websites are effectively created and modified.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience/training.
• Experience using content management systems like Drupal for building and maintaining complex websites.
• Experience conducting UX research projects and gathering feedback from stakeholders.
• Skills in using advanced design tools, frameworks, and scripts for web applications.
• Ability to develop web functionality using PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with automated testing systems such as Cypress and PHPUnit.
• Familiarity with other CMS and frameworks like Laravel and WordPress.
• Experience with command line interface and shell scripting on Linux.
• Knowledge of current web strategies and trends.
• Skills in web graphic design and UI/UX using Adobe Creative Suite.
