The Website Developer is responsible for designing, creating, and maintaining websites for the Arkansas Department of Health. This role involves ensuring user-friendly navigation, adhering to state and federal laws, and utilizing various web technologies and programming practices. The position requires a strong understanding of current web design trends and the ability to analyze user needs to determine technical requirements.

  • Designs, builds, or maintains websites using authoring or scripting languages and content creation tools.
  • Writes, designs, or edits web page content, or directs others in producing content.
  • Backs up files from websites to local directories for recovery in case of problems.
  • Identifies problems uncovered by testing or customer feedback and corrects them or refers them to appropriate personnel.
  • Evaluates code to ensure validity, proper structure, and compatibility with browsers and devices.
  • Maintains understanding of current web technologies through continuing education and professional development.
  • Analyzes user needs to determine technical requirements.
  • Develops or validates test routines and schedules to ensure comprehensive testing across all browser and device types.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in computer programming and analysis or a related area.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and Macromedia Flash.
  • Knowledge of current web-design trends and design techniques.
  • SQL Database experience preferred.
  • Experience with Laserfiche preferred.
  • Anticipated starting salary of $46,390.86 with a salary range of $46,391.00 - $73,994.00.
  • Potential for overtime work as needed.
