About the position

The Website Lead will be responsible for creating an updated website structure for a prestigious Ivy League research university. This role involves coordinating with the client and the Steering Committee to develop a timeline for website build phases, populating the site with artwork and artist information, and ensuring compliance with digital accessibility guidelines. This is a contract position for three months, offering a great opportunity for experienced web design professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Creating updated website structure in coordination with the client and the Steering Committee using a clone of the 2024 website.
  • Creating a timeline for website build phases aligned with the client submissions deadline and launch dates.
  • Populating the site with artwork and artist information using existing templates for virtual galleries, artwork posts, and artist pages.
  • Updating artwork gallery themes as needed in coordination with the client's Steering Committee.
  • Updating information on key pages (About, Contact, Call for Submissions, Digital Accessibility Guidelines, etc.) in coordination with the client's Steering Committee.
  • Adding local shows, events, press coverage, and other content as needed.
  • Following University-wide digital accessibility guidelines.
  • Working closely with Graphic Design lead to obtain new visuals for the site.
  • Working closely with Accessibility lead to ensure that all artworks have appropriate alt text, captions, and transcripts as needed.
  • Updating website 'How to' guides as needed.
  • Reviewing all site pages before going live.
  • Ensuring all links are functional before going live.
  • Testing site on different devices to ensure responsiveness to varying screen sizes.
  • Communicating with CampusPress support to resolve any technical issues.
  • Managing Google analytics and generating reports.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in web design.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Proficiency in WordPress and Google Analytics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in graphic design (6 years preferred).
