About the position

The Wedding & Special Event General Manager at Itasca Country Club plays a pivotal role in ensuring that all special events are executed flawlessly. This position is responsible for the comprehensive management of events from the initial setup to the final takedown, ensuring that every detail is attended to and that guests have a memorable experience. The General Manager will oversee a team of banquet staff, which includes Event Coordinators, Banquet Captains, Banquet Servers, and Banquet Bartenders, ensuring that they are well-trained and equipped to deliver exceptional service. In addition to managing the staff, the General Manager will be accountable for product delivery, which encompasses food service, event setup, and overall customer experience. This includes training and hiring staff, ensuring compliance with food and beverage safety standards, and maintaining the highest levels of guest satisfaction. The role requires excellent communication skills and a keen attention to detail, as well as the ability to present a positive image of the club and work collaboratively with the team. The General Manager must be adaptable, especially during events, to handle any changes or challenges that may arise. This position reports directly to the Director of Sales and Marketing and is a full-time role that may include evening and weekend work, as well as holidays, depending on the event schedule. The ideal candidate will be passionate about creating joyful experiences and will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the setup, execution, and takedown of all special events.
  • Manage all banquet staff, including Event Coordinators, Banquet Captains, Banquet Servers, and Banquet Bartenders.
  • Ensure product delivery, including food service, event setup, and customer experience.
  • Train and hire staff to meet the needs of the events.
  • Ensure staff compliance with guest and food safety standards, including F&B certifications.
  • Schedule staff and manage payroll effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and present a positive image of the club.
  • Adapt to changing situations during events and maintain a positive attitude.

Requirements

  • Mid-level experience in event management or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Experience in training and managing staff.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage safety standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a country club or hospitality environment.
