About the position

The Weekend Assignment Desk position at FOX8 WGHP involves coordinating news coverage, responding to breaking news, and researching and pitching story ideas. The role requires a proactive individual who can manage logistics effectively and communicate well, ensuring that news operations run smoothly during weekends and three additional days each week.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate news coverage for weekends and three additional days.
• React to breaking news and ensure timely coverage.
• Research and pitch story ideas for news segments.
• Listen to the scanner and respond to breaking news alerts.
• Develop and maintain contacts within the news community.
• Assign crews and track their activities throughout the day.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field preferred.
• Excellent editorial judgment and a keen sense of logistics.
• Good communication skills.
• Availability to take on-call assignments.
