About the position

The Rest Area Attendant is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation at rest areas in accordance with TDOT standards. This part-time position requires working every weekend, ensuring that all areas are well-kept and compliant with safety and health regulations. The role involves various cleaning and maintenance tasks, as well as paperwork and reporting duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform all contract requirements within state time frames.
• Ensure rest areas meet or exceed TDOT standards.
• Complete necessary paperwork accurately and on time.
• Comply with Easter Seals Policies and Procedures and the Employee Handbook.
• Maintain restrooms in a clean and sanitary condition, adding supplies as necessary.
• Clean the foyer and reception area, ensuring it is attractive and sanitary.
• Keep the storage area clean, neat, and secure.
• Report necessary repairs to the Rest Area Supervisor.
• Sweep or hose down parking lot areas, sidewalks, and walkways at least once each shift.
• Maintain grounds by raking leaves, mowing grass, and caring for shrubbery.
• Collect trash from receptacles and take to the garbage bin as necessary.
• Complete required Quality Control Check List each shift.
• Clean windows and light fixtures at least weekly or as necessary.
• Clean floors, doors, and water fountains at least once each shift.
• Remove all trash and debris from grounds and parking lot daily.
• Clean picnic tables and pavilions each morning and as needed.
• Edge curbs and walkways at least once per week during the growing season.
• Stock brochure racks as necessary at the beginning of each shift.
• Report incidents of vandalism, theft, accidents, etc. to the Supervisor and authorities immediately.
• Follow all safety/health/sanitation procedures and report unsafe practices immediately.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Physical and mental alertness to perform the requirements of the contract and duties.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous maintenance experience preferred, but not required.
