About the position

The Weighmaster at Sparrow Company LLC is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the scale house, ensuring efficient scheduling and workflow while delivering excellent customer service. This role involves maintaining accurate records, issuing weigh certificates, and coordinating with various departments and inspectors to comply with regulations. The position requires a high school diploma and offers a structured work schedule with potential overtime.

Responsibilities

• Maintain computerized records of material amounts and truck identities.
• Issue weigh certificates for sand, gravel, and scrap metal in compliance with regulations.
• Take orders and dispatch aggregate deliveries.
• Maintain records of current license numbers and tare weights of trucks.
• Interact with County and State inspectors from the Department of Weight and Measure.
• Coordinate repairs to the scale as requested by the Department of Weight and Measure.
• Work with the plant manager to staff yard personnel during high volume days.
• Monitor scheduled inspections and complete scale reports.
• Verify account status of customers and assist the credit department with record maintenance.
• Adhere to MSHA and OSHA rules and regulations and wear proper safety equipment.
• Meet or exceed company safety standards.
• Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience with aggregate products and dispatching is a plus.
• Apex and SAP computer skills are a plus, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel.
• Ability to work a regular workweek including weekends, with varying hours based on customer needs.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with basic mathematical skills.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

• Experience with aggregate products and dispatching.
• Familiarity with Apex and SAP computer systems.
