The Welcome Center Clerk at FedEx Supply Chain plays a crucial role in the efficient operation of the warehouse and distribution center located on Berens Drive in New Lenox, Illinois. This full-time position operates on a shift from Monday to Friday, 2 PM to 10 PM, and offers a competitive pay rate of $22.00 per hour, with an additional $1.00 per hour shift differential. The primary responsibility of the Welcome Center Clerk is to manage the check-in and check-out process for trailers and containers, ensuring that all shipping and receiving paperwork is accurately processed and that access control to the yard is maintained effectively. In this role, the clerk will inspect inbound and outbound trailers and containers, documenting the details of individuals entering and leaving the yard. This includes maintaining control over Bills of Lading (BOLs) and trailer/container inspection sheets. The Welcome Center Clerk is expected to interact with drivers in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner, ensuring a positive experience for all parties involved. Additionally, the clerk will utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to check trailers and containers in and out, liaising with clerical and workflow staff as necessary. The position also involves answering phone calls from both internal and external customers, maintaining access control and driver logs, and performing yard audits to reconcile the current yard status with the data in the WMS. The Welcome Center Clerk must prioritize a high volume of emails at the start of their shift and throughout the day, while also enforcing safety policies related to personal protective equipment (PPE), pedestrian traffic, speed limits, and other site regulations. Prompt reporting of safety and security issues is also a critical aspect of this role.
