About the position

The position involves coordinating programming activities in the tube bend department at Polaris Inc. The role focuses on identifying opportunities for new automation, developing necessary skills for supporting bend automation, and optimizing the utilization of automation in collaboration with scheduling and engineering teams. The individual will also be responsible for training and developing staff, maintaining vendor relationships, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Proficient in tube bend programming and machine function, including setup and specification of bender and bend cell.
  • Work with planning group to optimize tube bend utilization and manage downtime for preventive maintenance.
  • Collaborate with engineering to identify future automation assignments and streamline current processes.
  • Coordinate and conduct training for Group Leads, Manufacturing Technicians, and Operators.
  • Develop strong vendor relationships.
  • Work with Advance Engineer to create prototype and production programs.
  • Design and procure required bend tooling, generate purchase orders, and assist in capital installs.
  • Develop and maintain tooling standards.
  • Keep updated on part revisions and maintain program files.
  • Develop and verify cycle times and optimize cell flow to reduce cycle times.
  • Utilize computer with bender software for problem solving and communication.
  • Maintain cleanliness in bending areas.
  • Participate in Lean/PCI Process.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Complete required company training.
  • Use constructive conflict resolution with colleagues.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.
  • Be flexible with working hours and fill in as bend tech when needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3 years of bend programming experience and tube bending operations.
  • 2-year Machine Tool or CNC programming degree preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, processes, and procedures.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Basic understanding of MAPICS.
  • Strong oral and written communication and math skills required.
  • Good attendance and safety records.
  • Quality conscious.
