About the position

The Weld Shop Supervisor at Ohmstede Ltd. is responsible for overseeing the assembly and production processes within the welding shop. This role involves managing employees, ensuring adherence to safety and performance standards, and maintaining workflow efficiency. The supervisor will also handle documentation related to employee performance and safety compliance, while ensuring that all operations meet production requirements and legal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise employees and manage workflow in the welding shop.
  • Communicate job expectations and provide training, coaching, and counseling to employees.
  • Ensure adherence to performance standards and address performance issues as necessary.
  • Manage documentation related to employee performance, including promotions, pay increases, and disciplinary actions.
  • Plan and schedule personnel and materials to meet production requirements.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Oversee the layout and cutting of baffles and structural welding of bundles using various welding methods.
  • Direct hydrostatic testing and the installation of bundles into shells.
  • Handle personnel issues and take corrective actions within company policies.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and provide constructive feedback to subordinates.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 10 years of experience in manufacturing shell and tube exchangers or a closely related industry.
  • Supervisory experience is required.
  • Knowledge of ASME Pressure Vessel Code, TEMA, and/or API is a plus.
  • Strong customer service and relationship skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated technical and analytical problem-solving skills.
