About the position

We are currently looking for a Welder - Straight Trays to be based out of Cartersville, GA. This position is crucial to our manufacturing operations, as the Welder will be responsible for welding aluminum cable trays. The role requires a strong commitment to safety and quality, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The Welder will report directly to the Welding Supervisor and will be expected to perform setup, adjustments, and operation of welding machines within the department. Experience in lean manufacturing or a business system-based company is a plus, as it aligns with our commitment to efficiency and quality in production. In this role, the Welder will interpret drawings and fabricate based on blueprints, ensuring that all work adheres to customer specifications. The position also involves actively participating in Atkore's safety program and cross-training in different areas of the shop as required. The Welder must ensure that all processes are carried out with the required use of safety controls and personal protective equipment (PPE). Working conditions are typical for a manufacturing environment, which includes frequent lifting of materials and products up to 50 pounds. The manufacturing plant is not climate-controlled, and the role requires standing and working a 10-hour shift. Within the first three months, the Welder will complete any required training, develop relationships with key stakeholders, and become well-versed in Atkore's Business System, understanding the importance of their role in daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform setup, adjustments and operation of welding machines within the department
  • Use basic fabricating tools such as tape measures
  • Interpret drawings and fabricate based on blueprints
  • Fabricate per customer requirements adhering to specifications
  • Actively participate in Atkore's safety program
  • Cross train in different areas of the shop as required
  • Ensure all processes are carried out with the required use of safety controls and PPE

Requirements

  • 6+ months welding experience
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (preferred)
  • Ability to work 7:00am-3:30pm Monday-Friday
  • Technical School Welding Certificate (preferred)
  • Ability to squat, bend and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and work a 10-hour shift in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed
