About the position

The Welder- 2nd Shift position at Eaton's ES AMER ESS division in Worcester, MA, focuses on performing welding tasks in the Electrical Sector, specifically for Critical Power and Digital Infrastructure. This full-time role involves routine hand-welding and robotic welding on various assemblies, contributing to sectors such as Utilities, Hospitals, Data Centers, and Commercial Institutions. The position offers opportunities for upward mobility and operates on a Monday to Friday schedule from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine hand-welding or robotic welding on standard and near-standard assemblies.
  • De-burr, grind, and fit components prior to welding.
  • Grind and polish finished elements as required.
  • Block jig or position parts prior to welding.
  • Assist other operators in their work as directed/required.
  • Utilize manufacturing information to determine necessary parts/inventory, jigs/fixtures, and obtain materials from stock areas.
  • Complete necessary preparation work such as wiping, degreasing, de-burring, or grinding of components.
  • Operate various welding and metal-fabrication equipment as directed.
  • Be responsible for maintenance of equipment and complete necessary maintenance check sheets.
  • Maintain equipment and perform housekeeping duties as necessary.
  • Adhere to all environmental, health, safety rules and regulations, including the use of proper PPE.
  • Assist team in achieving plant and department goals by flexing when needed.
  • Assist with on-the-job training and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school.
  • Six months of prior welding experience or a technical diploma or certification in welding from an accredited institution.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1-3 years' weld experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of basic shop math and welding symbols.
  • Ability to read and understand formal, informal drawings, and/or engineering drawings.
