Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH) is seeking a full-time Welder to join our team at Naval Station Norfolk, VA. This position is integral to our operations supporting the U.S. Navy Directorate, which specializes in the design, research, development, testing, and evaluation of experimental watercraft for Department of Defense (DoD) clients. The Welder will be responsible for designing, fabricating, and prototyping metalwork assemblies specifically for U.S. Navy experimental and specialized small watercraft. The role requires proficiency in various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, brazing, and arc welding, adhering to NAVSEA 0900-LP-060-4010 series standards. In this position, the Welder will assist in the structural repair of various equipment, platforms, and components. The work will involve welding, bending, and machining of materials such as steel, aluminum, or plastics. The Welder will also be expected to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, and work orders to design and produce quality fabrications and prototypes. Safety is paramount, and all work must be performed in accordance with industry standards and best practices. The work environment is industrial, with varying temperatures and conditions. The Welder may be required to work either first shift (0700-1530) or second shift (0830-1700), with the possibility of shift hours varying due to mission requirements. The physical demands of the job include standing (45%), walking (25%), sitting (20%), reaching (5%), and lifting (5%), with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds being essential. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn as required for specific tasks.
