About the position
The Multi-Craft Field Welder at Cherokee Millwright is responsible for planning, laying out, welding, installing, and repairing various metal components according to blueprints and industry standards. This role requires cross-training in multiple trades, including millwrighting, pipefitting, and welding, to meet diverse customer needs. The position emphasizes safety, quality workmanship, and the ability to work with various tools and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Laying out pieces to be assembled according to blueprints, schematics, or work orders.
- Using manual/semi-automatic/automatic welding equipment to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials.
- Positioning pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools.
- Inspecting completed work for conformance to specifications.
- Performing minor maintenance to equipment.
- Observing all standard safety practices and maintaining required records.
- Participating in safety committees or initiatives as required.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two or more years of experience with industrial and commercial applications.
- Ability to pass structural and 6G pipe weld test.
Nice-to-haves
- Fork Lift license may be required.
- Additional skills in other crafts such as millwrighting, pipefitting, and sheet metal work.
