About the position
The Multi-Craft Field Welder position at Cherokee Millwright involves cross-training in various trades to meet customer needs. The primary focus is on welding, installation, and repair of metal components according to specifications and industry standards. Employees will also engage in other crafts as required, ensuring a versatile skill set to adapt to diverse job requests.
Responsibilities
- Laying out pieces to be assembled according to blueprints, schematics, or work orders.
- Using manual/semi-automatic/automatic welding equipment to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials.
- Positioning pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools.
- Inspecting completed work for conformance to specifications.
- Performing minor maintenance to equipment.
- Observing all standard safety practices and maintaining required records.
- Participating in safety committees or initiatives as required.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two or more years of experience with industrial and commercial applications.
- Ability to pass structural and 6G pipe weld test.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.
Nice-to-haves
- Fork Lift license may be required.
- Additional skills in other crafts such as millwrighting, pipefitting, and sheet metal work.
