About the position
The Welder position is a critical role within our skilled labor team, primarily focused on performing high-quality welding tasks on various metal components and structures. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing TIG and Stick welding techniques on materials such as stainless steel and aluminum. This role requires a strong understanding of welding processes, as well as the ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to ensure precise fabrication and assembly of metal parts according to specifications. In this position, the welder will set up and operate welding equipment, including TIG welders and plasma cutters, while also preparing materials for welding by cleaning, grinding, and cutting. Quality inspections are a vital part of the job, as the welder must ensure that all welds meet the required standards. Adherence to safety protocols is essential, and maintaining a clean work area is expected to promote a safe working environment. The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, with additional hours on Saturday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. The hourly wage for this role is $18.00, reflecting the skills and expertise required to perform the job effectively.
Responsibilities
- Perform TIG welding on various metal components and structures.
- Perform Stick welding on various metal components and structures.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
- Set up and operate welding equipment, including TIG welders, plasma cutters, and hand tools.
- Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, grinding, and cutting.
- Fabricate and assemble metal parts according to specifications.
- Conduct quality inspections to ensure welds meet required standards.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work area.
Requirements
- Must pass welding test.
- Proven experience as a TIG welder or similar role.
- Proficient in TIG welding techniques and processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
- Familiarity with using measuring tools i.e. calipers.
- Ability to lift 50lbs and work in various positions (standing, kneeling, bending).
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot welding issues.
- Tolerate Texas weather with extreme heat and extreme cold and work in a wet, dry, dusty, shop environment.
