About the position
The Welding Technician position involves performing various types of welding including ARC, MIG, and TIG, as well as maintaining welding equipment and ensuring safe work practices. This role is essential for conducting weld repairs on equipment and facilities, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of operations. The position is based in Peachtree City, GA, and operates on a day shift schedule from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, with overtime opportunities available.
Responsibilities
- Perform arc welding in all positions, selecting proper rods for the base material.
- Execute MIG welding in all positions, selecting appropriate wire and gases.
- Conduct TIG welding in all positions, choosing the right rod and gases for the base material.
- Implement oxy fuel/plasma cutting techniques as required.
- Engage in basic fabrication with provided prints and instructions.
- Exercise safe work practices around welding equipment and in the work environment.
- Select rods, wires, and gases without instruction to optimize weld strength and performance at Level II and III.
- Evaluate work environment for safety and make necessary adjustments.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED for Level I, with 1-2 years of related experience or training.
- High school diploma or GED for Level II, with 2-4 years of related experience or training.
- Technical training certificates or associate's degree for Level III, with 6-8 years of related experience or training.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations.
