About the position

The New York Post is seeking a full-time Wellness Editor to lead its health and wellness content. This role involves developing a larger health-news staff, creating engaging and informative articles, and strategically thinking about revenue-generating opportunities within the health vertical. The ideal candidate will have strong health contacts, the ability to simplify complex information, and experience in managing a team to produce timely health news and features.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team to report, write and publish breaking health news for nypost.com, as well as feature articles of varying lengths
• Edit stories with sharp, well-conceived angles that fit with The Post's brand
• Optimize content for SEO, social, syndication, and leverage traffic analytics to increase engagement and grow our audience
• Think strategically about the daily news cycle and manage ongoing coverage of trending wellness stories
• Oversee wellness as a mini-brand across all The Post's platforms such as video, newsletters and sponsored partnerships
• Act as a public face for our health content, confidently appearing on camera for video segments, interviews, and live events

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as an editor in an online news environment, ideally with a focus on health and wellness
• Proficiency in digital strategy, analytics and SEO best practices and tools
• Experience managing and mentoring reporters of varying experience levels
• Excellent judgment as to what drives audiences across various digital platforms
• A genuine interest in health, wellness, and lifestyle topics, with a commitment to providing accurate and valuable information to readers
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically about content and revenue opportunities, with experience in developing monetization strategies
• Experience working with e-commerce, sales and marketing
• Ability to work a full-time M-F schedule, with some flexibility in scheduling
