About the position

The Wellness Nurse plays a crucial role in providing Person-Centered Care in accordance with the standards of Sunshine Retirement Living and state regulations. This position involves monitoring resident health, providing physical care, and facilitating early diagnosis and intervention for changes in health status. Effective communication with families and primary physicians, along with administrative responsibilities, are key aspects of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor resident health status and provide physical care.
  • Perform early diagnosis and intervention for changes in resident health status.
  • Communicate effectively with family members and primary physicians.
  • Document resident conditions and care in accordance with community policies and regulations.
  • Administer medication and treatment as prescribed within the scope of practice.
  • Receive, transcribe, and execute physician orders.
  • Implement and evaluate resident's plan of care.
  • Identify and secure necessary equipment and supplies, notifying supervisor when supplies are needed.
  • Ensure timely response to resident and family concerns.
  • Direct Caregivers to ensure care is provided per standards and regulations.
  • Conduct rounds with Caregivers to ensure unit is in proper order.

Requirements

  • Current, valid LPN or RN license is required.
  • Education or experience in long-term care, acute care, or geriatric nursing preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate professionally in English with staff, families, and customers.
  • No disqualifying criminal or care offenses as defined by regulatory guidelines.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and regulatory documents.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful approach with coworkers.
  • Ability to write nursing/patient progress notes and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a supervisory role in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of resident care and its impact on residents and families.
