About the position

The West Coast Regional Sales Manager will oversee daily sales operations for Uncle Matt's Organic, focusing on managing relationships with distributors, retailers, and brokers in California. This role involves presenting the product line, developing sales strategies, and driving new business development while ensuring alignment with brand objectives and market trends.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily sales operations for Uncle Matt's Organic customer base.
  • Present the Uncle Matt's Organic product line to increase existing business.
  • Develop fact-based selling stories using available data.
  • Incorporate market trends and category management strategies.
  • Become a subject matter expert in the product line.
  • Manage the broker network and maintain regular communication with broker representatives.
  • Communicate brand objectives to the broker team and conduct joint store visits and sales calls.
  • Establish priorities and measurable goals for salespeople to improve execution.
  • Coordinate the promotional calendar with brokers, distributors, and key retailers.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date account lists and records.
  • Build and maintain relationships with distributor and retail contacts.
  • Maintain a monthly sales log for distributor, retailer, and broker calls.
  • Prepare and manage sales reports for presentation to the Director of Sales and UMO board.
  • Make decisions for problem-solving, negotiations, and sales growth.
  • Monitor SPINS, IRI, and portal information to identify trends and address potential issues.
  • Manage new business development by pursuing new opportunities with distributors, retailers, and brokers.
  • Present and promote the UMO product line via various communication methods.
  • Handle new account inquiries and follow up with UMO information and pricing.
  • Travel as required to meet with potential new accounts.
  • Coordinate product samples for potential new business accounts.
  • Follow industry trends for innovation and line extensions.
  • Attend key trade shows and interact with the Director of Sales and VP of Marketing/Media Relations.
  • Create and develop marketing initiatives for implementation by the marketing team.
  • Plan and execute all sales functions within the established yearly budget.
  • Track sales vs. projections to ensure goals are met or exceeded.
  • Implement strategies to deliver results and manage trade spend.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of CPG sales experience.
  • Experience in technical sales.
  • Experience managing budgets, sales forecasts, and trade spend.
  • Strong understanding of trade math, including Return on Investment, Profit, Margin, and Discounts.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in organic or natural product sales.
  • Familiarity with market trends in the organic food industry.
